Rev. Dr. Mia Chang

Rev. Dr. Mia Chang, Lead Pastor, founded NextGen Church in 2008.  Rev. Mia was ordained as a pastor by the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey upon completing her studies at Alliance Theological Seminary in New York.  She obtained her doctorate in ministry studies at Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University in PA.  Rev. Mia is a board member of American Baptist Home Mission Societies, the Ecclesia Network and Spring In the Desert Ministry. Rev. Mia is a founder of Africa River of Life, an NGO that supports education in underserved areas of Africa.

Rev. Joy Fields

Executive Pastor, joy@nextgenministry.net

Rev. Joy Fields, Executive Pastor, leads and coordinates the church life of NextGen.  Rev. Joy organizes our Sunday worship service, leads prayer teachings and bible studies, and serves as a praise vocalist while training up lay leaders for all areas of service.   Rev. Joy was Lead Pastor at Century Church and Pastor of Young Adult Ministry at Cathedral International where she was ordained by the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey.   Rev. Joy obtained a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and her bachelor's degree in business studies from Howard University.  She is a licensed Practitioner of Mortuary Science in New Jersey.

Min. Steve Ku

Min. Steve Ku has served with NextGen since its inception.  As a Minister, Steve is involved in finance, administration and overall management of church operations.  Steve leads the LIFE Group, the men's ministry and AV/media.  Steve is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary where he obtained a Master of Arts in Theological Studies.  Steve is a former Certified Public Accountant with more than 25 years of experience in accounting, finance and asset management.  Steve is a founder of Africa River of Life, an NGO that supports education in underserved areas of Africa.

Rev. Dr. Lola Akiwowo

Missionary Pastor, lola@nextgenministry.net

Rev. Dr. Lola Akiwowo, Missionary Pastor, has served with NextGen since its inception.  Rev. Lola often travels to Nigeria to serve as Director of the Alliance Int'l School to educate an underserved community of children in the region of Ijebu-Ode.   She is an ordained pastor of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey.  Rev. Lola completed her doctorate studies at New Brunswick Theological Seminary where she also obtained her degree of Master of Divinity.

Dr. Randa Yee

Children's Director, randa@nextgenministry.net

Dr. Randa Yee serves as Children's Director of NextGen where she designs curriculum and leads the Sunday Children's Church and related programs.  Randa also leads Epostlenaut, a multimedia ministry for children that combines art and technology in a fun and friendly environment. She is a graduate of Regent University with a MA in Counseling with a focus on Clinical Mental Health and Christian Integration.  Randa previously obtained a doctorate in Molecular and Medical Pharmacology from UCLA and worked for several years in the field of neurological research.

Rachel George,

As Administrator, Rachel is involved in various aspects of ministry including recordkeeping, purchasing and managing special events.  Rachel also assists with Children's Church, Youth Impact, the Dinner Church among other outreach efforts.  Rachel obtainer her master's degree in mathematics at Texas Women’s University.  She is a former high school math teacher and currently teaches in the local West Windsor school district.  Rachel remains an active parent/participant in the community.

OUR HISTORY

2019 - NextGen and the First Baptist Church of Trenton jointly start the Dinner Church initiative.

2016 to 2021 - NextGen operates Capital City Academy, a daily after-school program for students at the Grant Elementary School in Trenton.

2016 - NextGen and Rev. Oscar Guerrero jointly plant New Hights Christian Church in Hightstown, NJ to serve a growing Spanish speaking community.

2015 - NextGen acquires a parcel of land in Imosan, Nigeria to be the future site of Alliance International School (opened Sep'2018).

2011 - NextGen moves to 1300 Windsor Edinburg Road, our current location and place of worship.

2009 - NextGen Church joins the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey ("ABCNJ") denomination.

2008 - Rev. Mia Chang plants NextGen Church in West Windsor, New Jersey.  Rev. Lola Akiwowo joins shortly thereafter.
